Motherboard has been great so far! Was easy to set-up, and everything worked perfectly after drivers were updated. Been using it for about a month now with no issues. Would highly recommend, especially for the price.

the hardware itself is top notch and it comes with a great bios

the lack of documentation is inexcusable - its vital that customers are given schematics of the board to know where to plug everything in - having it online doesn't help

overall - probably the best bang for the buck right now, especially if you upgraded to the 12600

Using 12600kf with MSI z690a pro is very, very easy to use, MSI motherboard memory overclocking is extremely simple, and the cpu is also a hands-on teaching level. The water-cooled fan also has a special socket on the motherboard, which does not need to be connected to the power supply. The overall workmanship is still very satisfactory, and when the chassis arrives, it can be started! The materials used are sufficient, the power supply is more than the previous high-end boards, and it is no problem to run 12900. The scalability is very good, not like the scalability of the beggar board, and the bios is also easy to use.

Overall, this is a great motherboard for the new builder!!!

High quality motherboard for a really good price. Love that it has wifi, lots of USB ports, a front USB-C port, and is a neutral design that goes with my set-up. Heat sinks seem really good.

Lacks RGB lighting on the motherboard - although this is common across all motherboards around this price point so it's not a complaint against MSI specifically.

New computer build - was easy to get set-up, and after driver updates everything is working great!

The board has a nice design and looks great in a black case, the on board wifi works well and the HD audio sounds great as well. The board has lots of expansion for M.2 drives and the reinforced GPU slot did a good job of keeping the GPU from sagging, despite being a large card. The board has lots of fan headers and a dedicated pump header for an AIO, as well as front USB-C connection.

The instructions and the manual aren't written very clearly and similarly the descriptions in the BIOS are a bit less clear than other manufacturers. The I/O shield didnt fit perfectly, causing some of the USB devices to rub on the I/O shield when you insert them.

Overall I think it's a good choice for a budget z690 board and it has a good feature set when compared to other boards of a similar price.

I found the the price compared to other motherboards was pretty good. When I put in my ram and booted up the pc, I did not even need to mess around in the bios. IT litterally set my ram speeds automatically which was 3200mhz.

I feel like the motherboard could use some RGB to spice it up a little.

Overall Seems pretty good for my i7-12700kf and rtx 3070 ti

First of all this review is for the MSI Review Rebate Program. Usually, I'm a fan of the Asus motherboards but the value provided by this Z690 board swayed me to give MSI a try. So far, I am impressed by the the number of m.2 slots, USB ports and expansion slots offered by this board. Also, 6 onboard sysfan ports! No need for repeaters or fan hubs. The m.2 heatsink that comes with this board does a great job at keep SSD cool. Overall, very impressed by the high end features and connectivity offered by this Z690 motherboard at a mid-range price.

- Clean, minimal design - Plenty of the latest feature sets (PCI-e slots, M.2, RGB headers, etc) at a reasonable price for a Z-series board - WiFi is handy for testing wireless network settings at home and can also be used to connect to Bluetooth devices like a mouse

These weaknesses could just be a me problem but as a user I would've expected and hoped for things to "just work" out of the box. I'm a first-time MSI motherboard user (previously owner of Gigabyte, ASUS, and Supermicro boards): - Wake up from sleep problem: I'm having problems starting Windows 11 up from sleep mode. I have to hold the power button after waking it up (force shutdown) and then click the power button again to start the system up after which all my programs appear to be in the same state as when I put it to sleep mode. Seems like this is a problem other MSI board users have/had experienced too but hopefully it's something that is fixed with a future Windows update and/or MSI driver/BIOS update. Unfortunate workaround for me is to just shutdown for now, instead. - Extra MSI software issues: Not specific to only this MSI motherboard but there's a lot of confusion around the MSI software too which has a lot of mixed reviews on forums online. There's also a lot of confusion about which software to install (or not) as MSI has both a tool called Dragon Center but also MSI Center so it wasn't clear which one to install. It could also be that they haven't quite updated their website since the pre-reqs when I checked didn't list support for Z690 boards yet? Furthermore, their software could use a better user experience as it's not 100% straightforward and if you run into problems you have to dig around for an "MSI Center" removal tool on their forums. I ran into a weird scenario where the RGB light tool would get stuck in an installing state so I had to dig around for this removal tool before I could try re-installing the application. Several hours later and it's finally working for me. Overall was a poor experience for me but maybe I was just unlucky.

The motherboard mostly works as expected. My setup is with the i7 12700K, Trident Z 2x32gb 3600MHz CL18, and MSI Ventus RTX 2080. Cooling with Noctua NH-D15S provides sufficient clearance for the RAM and RTX card (~1 inch for each). All of this fit just fine within a Fractal Design Meshify 2 case.

I had to check the BIOS settings for XMP profile to be applied otherwise the memory only ran at 2666MHz. RGB light strips worked after a bit of tinkering using 2x Phanteks addressable lights (using both M1 and M5 models).

What's otherwise a good product it's a 4 stars for me due to a couple issues mentioned in the weaknesses section of this review (wake up from sleep issues and poor experience installing extra MSI software).

Everything went smoothly with the installation, and the system has been running well for 2 weeks.

This is my first time using an MSI board. I am not familiar with the BIOS, which I find a bit difficult to use in order to tweak various settings. There was no manual in the box (which wasn't sealed, so I don't know if it was missing or normally not included), but I easily accessed it from the website.

The board seems to be of good quality, but the system has only been running for 2 weeks. No issues. Was the cheapest option with all the features I wanted. (Review written as part of MSI rebate program)

This is my first time using an MSI Motherboard. Components appear to be of good quality. Installation was simple, and everything snapped in as it should. Great WiFi connection. I also purchased an MSI MAG CORELIQUID cooler, and they sent a free bracket for this socket by FedEx, which arrived in one week.

Not being familiar with the MSI BIOS, it took a bit of time to learn how to configure it. There was no full manual in the box, but it was readily available on the MSI website.

The product seems to be of good quality, and the price was the best for the features I wanted.
