You plug it in and it auto opens your file explorer where you download the drivers, so no internet access is required or any other usb with the drivers. However it didn’t automatically connect i had to try different 3.0 ports in my pc so the wifi adapter would connect to the network, that was one of two complaints i had. The other is that when playing video games i had stutter moments occasionally however it would happen at least 1-2 times per gaming session for about 1-3 seconds.
